Applied provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for Allison Transmission’s new Technical Innovation Center.
The building has an energy-efficient water source heat pump system, with dry coolers for heat rejection and gas-fired boilers for heating. Water source VRF heat pumps are utilized for space conditioning and a dedicated outside air unit (also on the heat pump water loop) includes a total enthalpy wheel for heat recovery from the building exhaust to the incoming ventilation outside air.
Other energy efficient features include LED lighting, occupancy sensors, daylighting controls to shut off lights when ambient light is sufficient, and variable frequency drives on all motors.
